
On Friday, August 28, the Dill Pickles host HOW ARE THINGS MADE?, a bus tour examining how local products are made and their economic impact on Portland. The field trip will make several stops to industrial facilities and associates sites, including the Port of Portland container yard, Pendleton Woolen Mills, a behind-the-scenes look at Intel (the largest private employer in the state of Oregon) and Oregon Soap Company. While en route, Dr. Randall Bluffstone, Chair of the Department of Economics at Portland State University, will provide economic insights on the history of Portland’s development and discuss how the current recession is affecting Portland’s manufacturers.
